Bathroom wallpaper: a little change to brighten your day
A quick morning routine, a quiet moment before bed. You use your bathroom every day, so why not make it a room you love? Bathroom wallpaper adds character and warmth, even to the simplest space. Delicate patterns, bold leaves and subtle textures look beautiful alongside tiles. Sometimes, one wall is all it takes to give the whole room a fresh feel.
Which wallpaper should you choose for a bathroom?
There is more to choosing bathroom wallpaper than finding a pattern you love. Vinyl wallpaper can be a practical option thanks to its durable surface, with cleaning properties that vary from product to product. Always check the manufacturer’s recommendations and the wallpaper symbols before choosing. Washable does not mean waterproof. The backing material alone does not determine whether a wallpaper is suitable for a bathroom.
Find the right spot for your wallpaper
Choose a dry area in a well-ventilated bathroom, such as a wall near the door or a section above tiles that stays clear of splashes. Standard wallpaper is not suitable inside a shower or anywhere regularly exposed to water. Use tiles or another waterproof finish in those areas, and let wallpaper bring colour and character to the drier parts of the room.
A touch of greenery or quiet elegance?
Botanical wallpaper pairs beautifully with wood, woven accessories and soft towels. Stone and concrete effects suit a more understated interior, while geometric patterns add a playful touch. If your tiles already make a statement, try a quieter wallpaper. With simple tiles, you can give a bolder design room to shine. Even a small bathroom can have plenty of personality.
For a look that feels pulled together, pick a colour from the wallpaper and repeat it in your towels or accessories. No need to replace everything. A few thoughtful details can make the pieces you already love feel right at home.
A little preparation goes a long way
Start with a dry, clean, smooth and sound surface. Use the adhesive recommended for your chosen wallpaper and follow the manufacturer’s hanging instructions. Good ventilation matters too, especially after a bath or shower. These practical steps help you get the best from your wallpaper.
